Houge Estates in Dilworth, MN, has 60 one-bedroom units for those 62 or older or disabled.

Houge Estates is affordable with qualified residents paying 30% of their monthly income for housing. Rent includes all utilities except electric. Applicant must meet required eligibility guidelines to live in subsidized housing.

Clay County and Moorhead Affordable Housing

Clay County HRA manages 62 two to four bedroom units. The units range from single family to four-plexes. Thirty-Eight of these units are in Moorhead, 8 in Dilworth, twelve in Hawley, and four in Ulen. Applicants must meet eligibility guidelines to live in these units. These properties are not subsidized but will accept housing subsidies/vouchers.

Amenities

  • Rents range from $1035 for 2 bedroom units, $1,080 to $1,200 for 3 bedroom units and $910-$1,860 for 4 bedroom units
  • Major utilities are included in rent (heat, electric, water, garbage, sewer)

Requirements

  • Have a good rental history
  • Meet criminal background screening requirements
  • Earn 80% or less of area median income per year (For example, for a family of 4 the 80% income limit is $73,050 in 2021)

Gateway Gardens

Gateway Gardens: One-bedroom permanent supportive housing units located in North Moorhead. 24-hour front desk staff with supportive services provided on site. To be eligible a person must:

  • Be currently experiencing Long-Term Homelessness and;
  • Have a verifiable disabling condition and;
  • Be able to receive assistance from Clay County Social Services and;
  • Be assessed by CARES as being high priority

Prairie Horizon Townhomes

Prairie Horizons Townhomes: 1, 2, 3, or 4-bedroom townhomes located in South Moorhead. Project based Housing Choice Voucher with supportive services provided on site. To be eligible a household must:

  • Be currently residing in an emergency shelter or place not meant for habitation and;
  • Have a verifiable disabling condition and;
  • Meet the definition of Long-Term Homeless (according to the State of MN definition): "The State of Minnesota defines an individual, unaccompanied youth, or family as “Long-Term Homeless” if they are without a home for a year or more OR have had at least four (4) episodes of homelessness in the past three (3) years." and;
  • Be assessed by CARES as being high priority.

Fieldcrest Townhomes

The Fieldcrest Townhomes consist of 40 townhomes located in Moorhead, MN. There are 20 two-bedroom units (990 square feet) and 20 three-bedroom units (1200 square feet). Applicant must meet required eligibility guidelines to live in subsidized housing. Qualified tenants pay 30% of their adjusted income for rent. Tenants pay their own utilities.

(Low Rent Public Housing)

River View Heights is a 14 story building with 104 apartment units (one and two bedrooms). Applicant must meet required eligibility guidelines to live in subsidized housing under the public housing program. Qualified tenants pay 30% of their income for rent and utilities River View Heights is owned by Moorhead Public Housing Agency and managed by the Clay County HRA.

(Low Rent Public Housing)

Sharp View is a two-story apartment building with 47 units (one and two bedrooms). Sharp View is designated for seniors (age 62+). However, policy allows us to accept age 50+ if no one 62+ is on the wait list for the unit. All applicants must meet required eligibility guidelines to live in subsidized housing under the public housing program. Qualified tenants pay 30% of their income for rent and utilities. Sharp View is owned by Moorhead Public Housing Agency and managed by the Clay County HRA.

Maple Court Townhomes

Maple Court Townhomes consist of 37 townhomes located in north Moorhead, MN. There are 22 two-bedroom units, 9 three-bedroom units and 2 four-bedroom units. Applicants must meet required eligibility guidelines to live in rent restricted housing.

There are four units where priority is given to families that are current or recent recipients of the MN Family Investment Program (MFIP). Half of the units are owned by the City of Moorhead and come with an option for tenants to purchase their unit and achieve homeownership at an affordable price.
